February: A short month, packed with lots of information!

Happy February! It's a birthday month for several presidents and for the entire state of Oregon, plus this year it comes with a whole extra day! Here are some things to be aware of at the Library this month...

Presidents Day closure: The Library (both locations) will be closed all day on Monday, February 15, for Presidents Day. Enjoy the holiday and get some extra rest after whatever wild and crazy Valentine's Day/Oregon's birthday celebrating you do!

The Library online: Are you a social media user? If so, be sure to follow the Library: we're on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. It's a great way to stay up to date on what's happening around here, and be the first to know about fun new projects we're working on.

Planning ahead: Spring Break is around the corner (believe it or not!), and we have tons of fun activities and programs happening March 20-26. If you help with special events, please be sure to log in to the calendar and sign up. If you can't wait until Spring Break for snacks and crafts, please join us for Leap Day crafts in a few weeks and make it a memorable February 29!

Library employment information: I get asked frequently about how to get a job at the Library. Since we've had a number of positions open recently, this is a good time to review how to learn about and apply for paid employment at the Library.

All paid positions at the Library are posted at the City of Hillsboro's employment website: http://www.hillsboro-oregon.gov/employment. You can apply online as well. There's a cool feature on the menu on the left side of the page called "Job Interest Card" where you can select the categories of jobs you're interested in, enter your contact information, and you'll receive an email notice when a job in your selected category opens.

Book sale volunteer sign-ups: The Spring Book Sale is coming up quickly: April 29-May 8. The sign-ups for our weekend setup shifts are live, but they haven't been advertised yet, so if you know someone who's interested this is a great time to sign up.
