Changes to the first floor at the Main Library

Next time you're at the Main Library, you'll notice that the Popular Desk (the reference desk on the first floor, behind the stairs) is gone! We're consolidating our public services on the first floor at one central desk. So if you have questions about what to read next, need to pay a fine, want help with your holds, would like a hand with the wifi, or anything else, just head to the service hub, formerly known as the check-out desk.

Our goal is to provide a better experience to patrons by offering all of our services at one location, rather than asking people to go all over the building for different services. The Shute Park Branch has been doing things this way since the remodel and reopening, and we're excited to put it into action at Main too.

We'll continue to have staff at the second floor reference desk and stationed in the children's area, providing the specialized services that are needed in those areas. And staff will be roaming the first floor to answer questions and help people find what they need.

If you have questions or feedback, please let us know. This is a work in progress, and we'll be making improvements as we go!

And while we're at it: Don't forget that we'll be closed all day on Monday, January 18, for MLK Day.
