December news to use!

Holiday closures

The holidays come fast and furious in December. If you volunteer on Thursdays or Fridays, please take special note of our early closures for Christmas and New Year's. 

- Christmas Eve: Thursday, December 24: close at 4pm
- Christmas Day: Friday, December 25: closed all day
- New Year's Eve: Thursday, December 31: close at 4pm
- New Year's Day: Friday, January 1: closed all day

And for those of you who plan ahead, we'll also be closed all day on Monday, January 18, for Martin Luther King Day.

December events

School's out the last two weeks of December, and we have lots of special events planned to keep the kiddos busy. If you'd like to help out with any of the crafts, movie days, or other events we have planned, check out the online schedule and sign up there! (If you're not familiar with the online schedule, or are having trouble logging in, please let me know.)

Swarm the Library: December edition

If you are familiar with shelving or pulling holds, please consider joining in our December "Swarm the Library" event on Sunday the 13th, from 8am-12pm. We did this back in September and got lots of staff and volunteer hands on deck to plow through a mountain of check-in and holds. This time we'll be focusing on weeding--getting underused items out of the collection to keep our materials fresh and make space for the new things we're getting all the time. We'll need folks to locate the items on the shelves, scan them into the database to change the records, mark them withdrawn, and disable their RFID tags. It's short notice, but if you've got some shelving experience and want to join in, please email me before the end of the day on Friday the 11th!
