The 2016 Oregon International Air Show is coming next month to Hillsboro, and that means lots of airplanes, noise, and closed roads in the vicinity of Hillsboro Airport and its neighbors, such as the Main Library.
This year's Air Show will be August 5-7, and many roads around the airport will be closed during practice and performances. The Main Library will remain open during the Air Show, but we will close early on Friday the 5th, at 6pm. The rest of the weekend we'll operate with normal hours. (The Shute Park Library will be open regular hours Friday-Sunday.)
The planned road closures will be:
- Friday, August 5: 10:30am-3:45pm and 6:45-10:30pm
- Saturday, August 6: 10:30am-5pm
- Sunday, August 7: 10:30am-5pm
During the closures, northbound Brookwood Parkway will be closed at Cornell Road,
so to get to the Main Library you'll need to come from the north, via Evergreen Road, Shute Road, or Dawson Creek Drive. Local traffic to the Library is allowed, but you may run into delays.
If you're scheduled to volunteer at Main during the Air Show and want to come in, we'd love to have you. If you'd like to adjust your hours to come in before or after the closures, please let me know--I'd be happy to help you work that out. Or if you'd rather skip it (it's noisy and traffic is a pain--I don't blame you!), let me know that too.
