It's a food drive! Now though December 31.

The Library is hosting a food and fund drive for the Oregon Food Bank this month at both libraries.

Over 270,000 people in Oregon eat meals from emergency food boxes each month. 92,000 are children. Since 2008, emergency food box distribution has increased by more than forty percent.

There is a barrel near check-out for food donations. The most-wanted food items are highly-nourishing foods such as:
  • Canned meats (e.g. chicken, tuna, salmon)
  • Canned or boxed meals (e.g. mac & cheese, soup, chili, stew)
  • Peanut butter or other nut butters
  • Canned or dried beans or peas (e.g. black beans, pinto beans, lentils)
  • Pasta, rice, cereal
  • Canned fruits & vegetables
  • 100% fruit or vegetable juice (canned, boxed, or in plastic bottles)
  • Cooking oil
  • Shelf-stable milk
The food bank can't use rusty or unlabeled cans, homemade items, perishable items, alcohol, drink mixes, soda, or open/used items. If you donate items packaged in glass containers, please bag them separately from other items and label them clearly.

If you'd like to donate money, donation envelopes are available at the Welcome Desk. You can also donate online, directly to Oregon Food Bank.

Thanks for your support!
