A few updates and reminders to start the month...
- Tuesday, November 6, is Election Day. (Don't forget to vote!) If you're planning to come by the Main Library that afternoon or evening, please expect heavier-than-usual traffic. Election workers will collect ballots curbside after 12pm to reduce congestion in the parking lot. If you're looking for other places to cast your vote, try this ballot drop-box locator.
- November is often the start of wintry weather in the Northwest. In the case of snow, ice, or other nasty weather, please use your best judgment about the conditions and come in only if it's safe to do so. If you decide not to come in for your scheduled volunteer shift, please call or email to let us know. - Please remember not to wear scented products (e.g. perfumes, colognes, aftershaves, strongly scented lotions) when you come to volunteer. Fragrances are a respiratory irritant to many people and can trigger asthma, allergies, or other health problems. Thank you!
- First-floor construction will begin at Main on Wednesday, November 7, on the existing stairwell near Sesame Donuts. The stairwell will be closed, and you'll see scaffolding in the area, but the work should not affect normal operations otherwise. The next major project downstairs will involve moving the reference desk to begin construction on a new stairwell. That's currently scheduled for December. There's a new section on the library website for construction news, and it will be updated weekly with the latest news and photos.
