1. Book sale
The semi-annual Friends of the Library book sale is right around the corner: October 26-November 4. Set-up starts on Sunday, October 14. There are several ways to get involved:
- Shop! Come pick up old favorites, make new discoveries, and get a jump on your holiday shopping.
- Donate! If you're doing some fall cleaning, the Friends will take your used books, CDs, and DVDs.
- Volunteer! We need help with set-up, organizing, restocking, and tear-down. Get a sneak preview of sale items or help us with the brand-new challenge of moving tables/bookshelves/etc. to off-site storage when the sale is done.
We're still taking submissions for the October/November featured book displays. Please share your favorite books & movies! You can email them to me or fill out a bookmark by the volunteer sign-in next time you're at the library. The displays go up next week and we expect the books to fly off the shelves, so keep the suggestions coming!
3. Construction update
We expect construction to begin October 31 on the Main Library's second floor build-out. You may see construction workers in the building before then, doing planning and staging.
- There will be day and night construction shifts. Day shift will be 6am-2:30pm; night shifts will start at 8:30pm, after closing. The noisy work will happen at night.
- Several parking spaces at the south end of the parking lot will be reserved for construction: the spots between the building and the picnic table, and a few spaces at the far southeast corner of the lot. Construction workers will park on the far north end of the lot, to have minimal impact on patron/volunteer/staff parking.
